Our DNA

The need for the gospel in the city of Little Rock is great. Neighborhood after neighborhood is characterized by fractured families, lack of strong male leadership, discipleship, accountability, and the gospel and love of Jesus Christ. People are losing hope. What is the solution? The solution is the body of Christ doing what the Holy Spirit has empowered it to do, bring the hope of the life Jesus offers into hopeless circumstances. Community Church is committed to restoring one neighborhood at a time with a gospel message that is both proclamational and incarnational. That is, one that is spoken in word but also lived out in deed.

We want to be known as a group of people who have become bond servants of Christ, placing the Kingdom of God above personal agendas. We desire to cultivate an authentic Christian community of those who have been saved by grace through faith in Christ alone. We desire to be ambassadors for Christ both inside and outside the walls of our church. We are a community of faith that cares about our city. This is central to our name “Community.”

True biblical community does not tear down, but it builds up the life of the believer for the glorification of God. A biblical community will help provide the surroundings that will encourage, challenge, and motivate the believer to cultivate and produce spiritual fruit. In Bill Hybels book Honest to God? Becoming an Authentic Christian, he states, “We yearn for relationships where we can be completely honest, open and vulnerable. Where we can share failures as well as success, shortcomings as well as strengths. Where we can reveal doubts and fears. Where we can find empathy and confidentiality.” This is authentic community. God created us to be in relationship with one another, yes, community requires sacrifice and service, but just as Matthew 20:28 says, “even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

We at Community Church desire to move beyond pseudo community (surface level relationships) to authentic Christian community that is marked by discipleship and accountability. This is our DNA. Come join us as we desire to be a part of a movement to Reach The Rock with the gospel!
